Zane Ruth has over twenty-five years of performing, teaching and arranging experience. Mr. Ruth is the director and founder of First Capital Drumline. From 1995 to 2009, Zane served as percussion instructor for the Dallastown Area High School. Under his direction the Dallastown Indoor Drumline won five KIDA and CIA championships. Currently, he serves as percussion instructor for the Dallastown Middle School, Northeastern High School and the Christian School of York. At the collegiate level, Mr. Ruth has worked with Millersville University and the the Virgina Tech Regimental Marching Band. As a private percussion instructor, Zane maintains an active percussion studio. Students of Mr. Ruth have gone on to become marching members with: Penn State's Blue Band, West Virginia University Mountaineer Band, The USC Trojan Marching Band, Shippensburg University and The Jersey Surf and Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Ruth is also the founder and director of the First Capital Trash Can Band and the First Capital Fife and Drum Corps. In 1998, Mr. Ruth was chosen to instruct the BIG 33 All Star Marching Band Percussion Section. In 2000 He became the Pennsylvania All State Band’s Percussion Director. As a performer, Zane was a member of the 1995 Westshoreman, DCA World Championship Drumline. Zane has also performed with the Hanover Lancer Drum and Bugle Corps under the direction of Drum Corps Hall of Fame member Bob Zarfoss. Mr. Ruth is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society and is a proud endorser of Pro-Mark Sticks and Mallets and is a member of its education team.
2020 will mark Connor's fifth season as a member of the FC staff. Connor is a Graduate of Lebanon Valley College and is Currently the percussion instructor for the Eastern York Marching Band. Connor has also worked with Northeastern High School and Central Dauphin East High School percussion programs.
